In this paper the authors analyse the problem of wear for blades operating in planetary concrete mixers together with the design of a new shape blade based on a theoretical approach. The aim of the study is to present the new improved blade shape and validate the efficiency of the new blade design by measuring wear rates using an innovative optical non-contact 3D scanner.
