Prof. Dr. ir. Joost Walraven was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor by the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Kassel in an academic ceremony on 2 July 2009. Joost Walraven lectures and researches at the TU Delft and, with his top-class scientific work and his worldwide recognised involvement in international committees, has made a consider - able contribution to concrete’s present-day standing as an innovative, high-performance material. The ceremonial speech entitled ‘Fibre Reinforced Concrete - Challenge for the Future’ was held by Prof. Dr. Marco di Prisco of the Politechnico di Milano in front of numer - ous international guests.
