Several approaches to the mix design of self-compacting concrete (SCC) are applied today. Most of them have proven suitable to successfully produce self-compacting concrete in the laboratory. However, the challenge nowadays is the transfer of the mix design from the laboratory to the concrete plant. In the present case study, this challenge had to be met by different plants in particular for their precast production. Due the benefits involved and customer demand, the plants wanted to change their production from conventionally vibrated concrete to SCC.
