Pumping is undoubtedly the only method of delivery for concrete in high-rise construction, allowing it to be placed in areas that are difficult or impossible to reach by other placement methods. Pumping often results in a savings in manpower, equipment cost and cycle time. However, pumping concrete to great heights presents its own challenges for mix design, which advances in admixtures have helped to overcome.
