This paper presents the results of freeze- thaw resistance tests performed with air pore entrainment, reference mixtures without any admixtures, and four mixtures with superabsorbent polymer (SAP) addition. The paper presents a simple calculation to predict the void spacing factor. The results show a significant positive influence of the SAP on freeze - thaw resistance and on most other concrete properties. The mixtures with SAP addition showed less scaling than the reference mixtures and an increase of the compressive strength dependent on the polymer type and the SAP particle size distribution.
