Radiation protection building madewith precast concrete double-wall slabs

Siemens Medical Solutions is in the process of moving its radiation therapy business to Germany. This created a need to design and construct ten radiation-proof test rooms at two sites. Forster Bau GmbH Ingenieurgesellschaft was the general design contractor. The narrow time window together with hard winter temperatures presented particular challenges to the construction. Forster's "sandwich" construction method, using double-wall slabs filled with a combination of cost-saving materials, passed the test.
