The Cape Town based company Terraforce, founded in 1979, became involved in the construction of retaining walls and erosion control systems in the early 1980’s and launched its own system, the Terraforce block, in 1984. First license agreements for the manufacturing of the Terraforce block were signed in 1986. A few years later, the block was well established in South Africa, with licensees producing in all major centres of the country. Following the development of many innovative block systems and the creation of a large design variety, Terraforce has in the following 2 decades emerged as the leading earthretaining company in Southern Africa.
