One of the most important properties of fresh concrete is its workability. In the case of traditional concretes, this is measured in Germany in terms of flow spread according to DIN EN 12350-5 and degree of compactability according to DIN EN 12350-4. Both processes are well known. As part of the Europeanization of EN 12350, the slump test according to DIN EN 12350-2 and the Vébé test according to DIN EN12350- 3 have been added to the current fresh concrete standards. With the introduction of self-compacting concrete, abbreviated to SCC, com- pletely new test criteria were needed.
