Manholes made from concrete or reinforced concrete consist of the bottom section, the manhole rings and the top cover. The manholes provide access to the sewer system and are used in traffic areas. The joints between the structural units must be tight and be able to carry their own dead weight plus the weight of the traffic into the subsurface.
