The tenth article in the series "Increasing Productivity and Quality Management" focuses on an operation that requires manual intervention in most precast facilities, namely, positioning inserts between setting up the formwork and introducing the reinforcement. In general, this is done at a separate workstation. Inserts may include door and window frames, outlet boxes, threaded sockets, lifting anchors or conduits. The positioning of the inserts is carried out either by manual calibration, marking with a plotter or laser, or by a robot. This report describes the technical options for automatic positioning. It also discusses the question of when it is appropriate to position inserts automatically.
