Würschum GmbH celebrated the 50th anniversary of its establishment on 1 July 2011. ‘Gebrüder Würschum OHG - Werkzeug und Apparatebau’ was entered in the Register of Companies in Esslingen exactly 50 years ago, on 1 July 1961. At that time Gerhard Würschum was working as a young engineer in the Concrete Mixing Plant Department at the Liebherr company in Biberach an der Riss. In conjunction with the production of ready-mix concrete, a ‘mixed oil metering system for the exact addition of chemical additives’ was required. This device, which up until that time had not existed on the market, was to be bought in addition as a fine mechanical component. That provided the impetus for the first product of the Würschum company, which was actually intended to be an engineering consultancy. The first device was designed and built as a fine metering device.
