The 1st International Interactive Symposium on UHPC took place from 18 – 20th July this year in Des Moines, Iowa – USA. The symposium offered an ideal platform for disseminating expert knowledge and the latest results from research in the field of ultra-high performance concretes. An interesting feature was the possibility of the audience taking part interactively in special podiums. Questions could be posed during the lectures via an app. These were then presented by a moderator at the end of the lectures and jointly answered by the experts. This approach with its workshop character led to very dynamic developments in the discussions between audiences and speakers.
