The building authority approved ThermoPin® is a modern shear connector in glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP). It is used in the construction of core-insulated double walls and sandwich walls in concrete. It penetrates the thermal insulation, securely and permanently connecting the facing and load bearing shells. Its minimal thermal conductivity enables the ThermoPin to thermally decouple walls, thus improving the indoor environment, increasing heat storage performance and minimising heat loss. Since both ends of the ThermoPin are covered with concrete, it is invisible in the component and building aesthetics are unimpaired.
