The Mersey Gateway Project is among England’s top 40 pioneering infrastructure projects and will improve the networking of key metropolitan regions in the north-west. The new bridge itself is 2.3 kilometres long, spanning the River Mersey where it is over one kilometre wide. The total new road network is 9.2 km long.
