Textile concrete has already proved its worth as an innovative construction material in many fields. Its configurability and lightness make construction component designs possible that are unimaginable with conventional steel reinforced concrete. Organically curved precast concrete elements will be presented as an example here. These improve – e.g. installed as a suspended ceiling – room acoustics as well as the fire protection characteristics of load-bearing structural components. To this end, the very great load-bearing capacity of textile concrete will be augmented by the noise and thermal insulating properties of no-fines lightweight concrete to generate a new composite construction material.
