In the first part of this article, current developments in the field of sustainable and environmentally friendly construction were conveyed and the resulting new demands on concrete were derived. Furthermore, the two-stage principle for the development of ecological concretes with reduced clinker elaborated at the TU Darmstadt was presented and the great potential for the reduction in clinker was shown. The results of a sustainability-orientated concrete development adapted to the industrial manufacture of steel reinforced precast concrete elements are presented in this second part of the article. The performance of the ecological concretes will be compared with the characteristics of the conventional reference concretes. Finally, there is an assessment of the environmental compatibility and the profitability of the ecological concretes developed and the building products made from them.
