Trade Journals for the Concrete Industry

The Concrete Manufacturers Association CMA, South Africa, is a marketing organisation dedicated to growing the markets of the precast concrete industry on behalf of its members and for the benefit of the public. The 2008 Awards for Excellence competition was the fifth consecutive event during which the construction sector has been enjoying annual growth rates of 10%, well in excess of the average for the remainder of the South African economy, which is around four percent. This positive outlook in the precast industry is mirrored in the adaptation of new technologies and the production of high quality precast products and components. This paper gives an overview on recent developments in the South African precast industry and presents a few of the winning projects of the CMA Awards for Excellence 2008.
