In addition to the main constituents of aggregate and cement, both inert and puzzolanically active fillers, e.g. rock flours or fly ashes, are often used in concrete goods in order to optimise the packing density. Through intensive cooperation between the raw materials industry and research, an additive has been successfully developed on the basis of clay minerals that exhibits a whole series of product-improving characteristics. This additive is now being sold throughout Europe under the trade name Concresol® and has been granted the necessary approvals for use in concrete.
