The development of self-compacting concretes (SCC) has propelled concrete technology to its current peak. Up to now, manufacturing costs have in part prevented this modern and efficient construction material from becoming a resounding success. This all could soon be a thing of the past. Suspension concrete is the name of a groundbreaking development which has everybody talking about a German start-up company. German Sucon GmbH’s innovative concept consists in a modified concrete manufacturing method with three process stages. According to the manufacturer’s information, normal and lightweight concretes can be produced as SCC or in comparable SCC quality at considerably lower cost. The compact plant system allows suspension concrete to be produced anywhere: in precast production facilities, ready-mix concrete plants and directly on construction sites.
