Part of the problem is how to do that when your production costs are already as lean as they can be. Any manufacturer knows that an aged or tumbled product simply costs more to produce for several reasons; more actual physical product handling or labor involved, more cure time or cement needed in mixture, and most of all waste from breakage. In order to keep a diverse product line with the ability to offer a premium aged product line, manufacturers are moving to the simplest way to do this is, that is by going in-line, and getting away from using tumbling or outdated aging equipment as their means of aging product.
