This paper addresses the group of ultra-ductile concrete, which exhibits strain hardening behaviour and has an ultimate strain of approx. 5 % - due to the bridging of fine multiple cracks by short, well distributed fibres. After a brief introduction into the material design of this new material, an extensive mechanical testing program on an ultra-ductile concrete is presented. Conclusions with regard to an appropriate mechanical testing procedure for such ductile cementitious composites are eventually drawn.
