Concrete in Latvia nowadays is the most impor- tant constructive building material working under compression. Its ratio in this special group of load-bearing materials is approximately 80%. This percentage tends to grow due to the impor- tant technical, economic and ecological advan- tages that concrete can offer when compared to other materials having the same constructive uti- lization characteristics like lime sand brick ma- sonry, wood, or steel under compression.
