Properties of Self-Compacting Concrete at Elevated Temperature

An Overview of Efforts in Research

SCC has gained much attention in the concrete industry and is used in many applications successfully throughout the world. The workability of SCC is higher than the highest class of workability associated with normal high performance concrete, typically used in precast concrete fabrication. Efforts have been made by researchers to study behaviour of SCC at elevated temperature. This paper presents an overview of the properties of SCC subjected to elevated temperatures. This is the compilation of experimental results on the properties like; compressive strength, permeability, porosity, modulus of elasticity, and splitting-tensile strength of SCC at elevated temperatures. This compilation would prove to be very helpful in understanding the behaviour of SCC at elevated temperatures and carrying out further investigation to establish standard guidelines for designing SCC subjected to elevated temperature or accidental fires.
