At least planning will in future be carried out on three-dimensional building models in conjunction with their associated databases, in which all components of the individual modules and of the finished construction product are available and can be retrieved as required for further use. The contractors involved must adapt to this course of action and exploit its benefits for their own production work. Unfortunately, this holistic approach has not yet caught on everywhere. Since precast production facilities, as pure manufacturing operations, deal exclusively with producing prefabricated construction elements, they feel no need to keep on filling out the database. The importance of such an approach is illustrated in the following by selected projects in the field of multifunctional construction elements.
