KLB plants produce lightweight concrete blocks from mineral residues

Recycling instead of downcycling

Effective recycling of building rubble: following large-scale trials, the partner plants of KLB Klimaleichtblock (Ander- nach, Rhineland-Palatinate) have now succeeded in safely producing lightweight concrete blocks from secondary raw materials. This is made possible by recycled aggregates that come from building demolitions, among other things. In this way, the city can be used virtually as a raw materials depot. The experts from KLB focused on the preparation of the building residues and their classification in the relevant standards. Ultimately, it was possible to use the secondary raw materials obtained again in the production of design lightweight concrete. In this way, raw materials are substituted and natural resources are conserved.
