Since its foundation in 1985, Apex, a company based on the island of Aruba, has steadily developed into its largest supplier of ready-mix concrete. Their entire product portfolio includes cement, ready-mix concrete, concrete blocks and paving blocks, various aggregates and, most recently, prestressed hollow core slabs. After careful market analysis, the decision was made to invest in a state-of-the-art, customised production facility made by Elematic for the latter product group in order to ensure that the production of high-quality prestressed hollow core slabs would be continually geared to market requirements. The new production line was then to be equipped with a concrete distribution system comprised of an overhead flying bucket system and crane bridge specially designed to meet Apex’s requirements. The crane bridge was to have a dual function. It was designed both to be able to feed the Elematic P7extruder with the aid of a flying bucket system and to move the extruder and connected processing line via an additional trolley including crane unit in order to load the prestressed hollow core slabs. The concrete distribution system for the production line was supplied and commissioned by Rekers from Germany, who can also look back on numerous references in this area.
