On the site of the former Neustadt freight station in Bremen, a new mixed-use neighborhood is taking shape, blending historic structures with contemporary urban design. Serving as a vital link between Neustadt and Woltmershausen, the area plays a key role in the city’s development. The first completed building, the six-story Spurwerk, marks the beginning of this transformation and gives the district a distinctive identity. The facade of Spurwerk holds particular significance. Its design not only emphasizes the building’s character but also symbolizes the fusion of tradition and innovation – a guiding theme for the entire neighborhood. The complex construction required tailored solutions, which were achieved using custom-designed glass fiber concrete formwork by Rieder developed specifically for this project.
