When sustainability, decarbonisation and the reduction of energy costs in modern concrete block production are discussed, attention usually turns immediately to the major levers: reducing cement content, using alternative binders or improving the efficiency of the primary heating system in the curing chamber. However, one crucial component is often seriously overlooked in the overall energy assessment: the material used for the production boards. In a closed production cycle, modern production boards are not merely transport media, but substantial mobile energy-storage elements. Thermodynamic optimisation in this area can unlock considerable, and often unused, potential for process optimisation and quality assurance.
