The Al Sultan company, founded in 1982, is located in an industrial estate near Musaffah in Abu Dhabi. Al Sultan belongs to a group of companies that is operative in several fields of business. Al Sultan is among the most important manufacturers of concrete goods in the region. For example, Al Sultan produces up to 7,500 running metres of kerbstones to British Standard daily on a total of four plants. Another main line of production at Al Sultan is the manufacture of concrete blocks, predominantly concrete paving stones. Until recently the company had two further manufacturing plants at its disposal, which are operating under full load. In order to meet the constantly growing demand for con crete blocks of all kinds, Al Sultan decided to invest in a third, new production line. Friesische Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG from Emden, known as Frima for short, was commissioned to supply and install the machine components. Al Sultan has been able to significantly increase its concrete block production capacities with the commissioning of this third block plant; annual production is now of the order of 4 million sq. metres of concrete paving stones in various colours and shapes.
