Lindley, a small town in the eastern Free State, is where South Africa’s first complete reservoir (wall & roof) was erected using precast hollow- core concrete slabs. A skills shortage, especially of concrete specialists and shuttering expertise, led to a decision to extend precast slab technology, which has already been successfully used on reservoir roofs, to the walls.
