Concrete testing – the basis for a successful construction material

Special focus on testing technology and QC

The technological aspects of concrete as a construction material are continuously discussed in scientific and practical contributions in CPI. The focus usually rests on the examination and evaluation of the development processes, i.e. the design and production of the concrete, and often leads directly to the hardened material with regards to application, versatility and related engineering properties. However, concrete would not have such a good reputation if it was not continuously and thoroughly evaluated and tested. Testing starts in the early stages, long bevor the production in the concrete plant begins. The constituent materials such as fine and coarse aggregates, cementitious binders, mineral additions and chemical admixtures are typically already tested by the manufacturers, followed by a comprehensive quality control of fresh and hardened concrete properties in the concrete plant in accordance with relevant regulations and test standards.
