Quality assurance of precast concrete is essential to ensure that the final structure is safe and meets the designer’s intentions. Effective quality assurance and certification programs are based on the industry’s body of knowledge. It is best to utilize quality assurance programs that address both the production and erection of the precast concrete elements so that the same high degree of care is provided during the entire construction process. Essential items of a plant production quality assurance program are presented along with those for the erec- tion process. Without established quality assurance programs, the precast concrete industry would not be as successful as it is today.
