There are few options for blue coloration of cementitious formulations. On one hand there is Cobalt Blue, but its high price usually makes it unaffordable. Then there is Phthalocyanine, but it performs poorly in many cementitious applications. Finally there is Ultramarine Blue. Conventional Ultramarine Blue cannot be used safely in cementitious formulations such as precast concrete as its chemical resistance in this environment is unsatisfactory, leading to quick color fading. However, encapsulated grades are currently available in the market making it possible. From now on using the right product and the correct formulation makes blue precast concrete production possible at a reasonable price.
