Publicly subsidised apartment building from the 3D printer

New building with six residential units

In the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Lünen, Germany's first publicly subsidised apartment building is being built using 3D printing. For the first time, the innovative construction method is being combined with the conditions of public housing subsidies. The Ministry of Regional Identity, Local Government, Building and Digitalization of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is funding the Lünen housing association's construction project with 400,000 euros from the state's “Innovation in the construction industry” funding. On the other hand, the Ministry is providing around 1.3 million euros from the public housing promotion programme. The total cost of the construction project is around 1.9 million euros. The building should be ready for occupancy in October 2024.
