Kappema GmbH, 83317 Teisendorf, Germany

On 6 February 2023, one of the most severe earthquakes in the Mediterranean region for more than 2000 years occurred. The border region of Turkey and neighbouring Syria was hit by an earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale. The area from Gaziantep over Adana to the coast at Iskenderum is particularly badly affected. Many towns and villages were almost completely destroyed. Around 15 million people live in this region on the Turkish side. Of these, 1.5 million have become homeless. The displacement of the tectonic plates was measurable at up to 4 metres.
