Russian building industry banks on precast concrete elements for residential construction

The upswing in the Russian construction industry continues. On account of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in a total of 16 stadia in 14 different cities, Russia is promoting the development and settlement of building material manufacturers in all venues. Investments totalling 1.56 trillion Roubles are available as part of the ‘Programme for the development of the building materials industry until 2020’. Also on the agenda, apart from the FIFA World Cup, are the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sotschi and the building of a new terminal at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport. In the field of residential construction the demand for insulated elements in particular has risen enormously due to new laws to cut the energy consumption of properties and increased additional living costs by up to 50 %. In order to be able to realise the extensive industrial and residential construction projects, increasing amounts of money are being invested into new technologies, especially for the high-quality and high-quantity manufacturing of concrete walls, floors and special concrete elements. The German machine and plant manufacturer Ebawe Anlagentechnik GmbH from Eilenburg near Leipzig recently completed two projects in Russia and its order books for 2014 are already well filled.
