A large number of bridges will be needed over existing traffic routes and water bodies in the near term in Germany in the course of implementing specific bicycle path planning at a national and local level. North Rhine-Westphalia is in a leading position when it comes to planning and erecting new bicycle expressways. Major investment will be made in the coming years in constructing and expanding the network of cycle paths within the “Nahmobilität 2.0” or “local mobility” concept. This will entail a great need for durable and yet affordable bridge solutions.
