A detailed readers’ survey was carried out worldwide between August 2008 and the end of July 2009. The aim was to identify the existing reader structure in order to further optimise the contents of the magazine on the basis of the findings gained. Questionnaires were included in all issues of CPI worldwide, new subscribers filled in this questionnaire and the same questions were also put at the ICCX events as well as other trade events all over the world in order to obtain a meaningful overview of the reader structure. All completed questionnaires were collated in a database and, after taking into account duplicates, a data set of 2,832 questionnaires remained, which were evaluated as described below.
