Area S.p.a based in Cornaredo (MI) Italy manufacture a wide range of self-locking concrete blocks, concrete curbs and street furniture. Ever seeking to improve the quality of the finished product whilst at the same time improve efficiency and save costs, the company turned to the expertise of CDS Concrete to help achieve these objectives. Traditionally the products had been cured in a large open-plan building which made an ideal application for the CDS ‘Big Room’ Envirocure system. The primary objectives of the Envirocure system for Area S.p.a were to improve the company’s manufacturing costs by aiming to reduce the cement / cement substitution content and overall energy usage whilst at the same time improving quality thus increasing saleable product. In order to achieve these benefits it was important to understand the limitations of the existing process.
