The LAMAS 21W laser measurement and analysis system offers many advantages in comparison with traditional immersion procedures or simple weight and height measurement: it works very quickly, is very accurate, needs no operator and all measurements are thoroughly documented. Since the gross density of the analysed concrete blocks can be obtained non-destructively, the prescribed material strength test can also be carried out 28 days later on the same specimen. What is more, it can be ascertained straightaway after production whether a concrete block will comply with material strength standards, as the gross density remains in a constant relationship to material strength. Manufacturing parameters can be altered immediately to achieve a perfect aggregate mix and yet still remain within the tolerance zone for material strength. Knowing the exact gross density can save cash and avoid rejects.
