Just as the company was ready to start production in 1946 the Muth family became involved with Orco Block. Pete Muth, his father, George Muth, and brother-in-law, Frank Hertz amassed $4000 and purchased one-half of the start-up concrete block company. Over the next 60 plus years Orco quietly became one of the leading companies in the industry. They kept pace by adding production capacity and producing the concrete masonry units that were used to build much of Southern California.
