The Commission on Prefabrication was created at the FIP Congress in Amsterdam in 1955. At that time, prefabrication was a rather new construction technique, and considered as a step towards the industrialization of the construction activity. After the war, it was also a solution to the acute needs for reconstruction in general and housing in particular.
