Advancements in recycling of end-of-life concrete

A complete approach to recycle waste concrete

The quality of recycled aggregate is highly dependent on the way end-of-life concrete (EoL) is crushed, processed and sorted out. The crushing process of EoL concrete has been well studied and optimized. However, sorting out the crushed concrete into clean aggregates according to their particle size is a subject of current research. The possibility of separating clean aggregates from crushed EoL concrete has direct relation to the potential of using recycled aggregates for construction purposes as equal as virgine aggregates. This article reports the current development in providing a technology that sorts out EoL concrete wastes into clean coarse and fine aggregates that can be used by the construction industry to fully replace virgin aggregates.
