During the early 90’s Mr. Masataka Shibata & Atushi Nakazawa of Kawasaki Steel Techno-Wire, Chiba, Japan, together with Mr. Juro Mihara of Kawasaki Steel Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, Mr. Kiyoshi Masuo of General Building Research Corporation, Osaka, Japan and Mr. Koichi Minami of Hukuyama University, Japan, developed a new type of transverse reinforcement with 1275 N/mm2 material yield strength. This consists of a continuous peripheral stirrup and internal stirrups, which is made of a one-piece steel bar without welding. They named it Continuous Spiral Stirrup.
