With the restoration of the guest house at the Stallmann-Hiestand winery in Rheinhessen, Germany, New Digital Craft demonstrates how digital manufacturing technologies can make the reconstruction of historic natural stone walls more sustainable, faster and more economical. The project offered ideal conditions for this: The ten jambs on the ground floor had been completely destroyed in the 1980s. The jambs on the first floor, on the other hand, remained completely intact and served as a precise template for digitally capturing and reconstructing the missing components using a scanning method.
