Precast concrete pilings are often used for bridge foundations. While most piles are square shaped, having dimensions between 18 and 30 inches; the Copano Bay Bridge called for 54 -inch round piles. Valley Prestress Products is supplying 460 precast/prestressed concrete piles for the project. To produce the piles; that range from 83 to 168-feet long, Valley Prestress installed 520 bed feet of new cylindrical piling forms with adjacent staging, handling and curing areas.
