This aquifer became a hot topic as developers were planning the construction of CityCenter, the largest privately-financed construction project in the history of the United States of $11 billion dollars. This urban community has over 1.2 million cubic yards of concrete which is equivalent to 120,000 concrete-mixing trucks and enough to build a four-foot sidewalk from Las Vegas, to New York City and back again.
