More than 70% of all damages to unbonded paving with concrete blocks result from the influence of water. The bonded construction method offers solutions but is also much more expensive. An alternative is the flexible bonded construction method, for example the ECOPREC-construction method, which normally includes the same construction steps as the unbonded construction method and also uses commonly available building materials. The experience gained with this construction method in Scandinavia and Germany for more than 10 years is topic of this paper.
