A concrete facing is an apparent surface of a form, however surface defects can appear if inappropriate demoulding oil is employed. The purpose of this study initiated by a formwork manufacturer is to study the influence of the nature of the oil (vegetable, mineral,…) and their system of application on the formwork surface. The mould surface (new, worn) is also studied. According to this study, it appears that to protect formwork against corrosion and to obtain ‘beautiful’ concrete facings, it is recommended to use oils with vegetable base with or without synthesis agent.
