At a symposium on structural reinforcement, SGL Group – In April the Carbon Company recognized the winners of the ideas competition to find innovative applications for the new carbon fiber/concrete composite material Carbocrete. Lightweight, corrosion-resistant carbon fibers make it possible to create slender structures that are as strong as steel-reinforced concrete but up to 75% lighter, with a longer service life. The new lightweight construction material has particularly inspired architects and designers with its drapability and design flexibility.
